PLEASE READ ME!
Here’s my review of Ta’if from the London perfumery, Ormonde Jayne. The creative director of the house is Linda Pilkington, and the perfumer is Geza Schoen. Schoen has also created scents for the Escentric Molecules and Clive Christian fragrance lines.

I talk about my favorite scent from Ormonde Jayne, Ormonde Woman, in my Top 7 Fall Fragrances video: http://youtu.be/-1dSR2B2d7s

Thanks for your detailed description of the oud note, that gives me a better reference point when sampling fragrances. I recently sampled Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud and didn’t get the strong dark note, perhaps Jo Malone has freshened it up as is the trend for most of their scents – in a good way 🙂 I love your videos, thanks so much for your great reviews <3

So it doesn’t cut the mustard eh?  I hear you.  Great review!

My goodness, I don’t think I’m getting your updates…I’ve been wondering if you were tired of perfume! I need to go look for your other rose reviews, as I am a big ol’ rose ho!

I mostly usually get Bandaid from oud, and it’s not something I care much for, but at the same time it doesn’t bother me. But the Kilian oud is worth trying..sheer heaven for me. Lots of inkiness and fur to my nose, though I am not sure if either of those are really in it!

It’s been a good while since I smelled this one, but I don’t remember being impressed, either. I feel this sort of thing is best left to Montale. And really, if one is going to be calling ones perfume Ta’if, sheer is NOT the effect it should give!  (Montale Queen of Roses and Taif Rose are some serious roses, btw, and worth hunting down, although they may not have enough other notes to keep you interested)

I seem to recall  this reminding me of a slightly higher quality Stella. (NO insult intended towards Stella, I just mean that the quality of ingredients use by OJ is obviously quite high!)

Thanks for the review, there is not many review on this one!! What do you think of Ormonde Jayne Man compare to Women?!

Allen Sandusky says:

Thanks Julie. Love your fragrance reviews. My wife bought me Ormonde Jayne Man for Christmas. I love it. I get a dominant pine vibe to it. Supposedly, the woman and man versions are similar. Unfortunately, my wife hasn’t warmed to this scent yet. This is a impressive house. In your opinion, is Ormonde Jayne a niche or indie house?

I want to reach through this screen and smell this perfume! Rose is one of my favorite scents. It’s nostalgic for me! !! I’ve missed you, I hope you’re doing well.
